Everything you need for a fabulous date night with your spouse - all in one place! Date night doesn't get any easier than this - AND we did all the work for you!

Life is busy for my husband and I. We don't have a lot of time to plan date night {who does?!}. When time together does comes up, we don't want to waste time deciding what to do - we want to get right to the fun!

With Date Night in a Box, you have everything you need for a memorable date night with your spouse - all in one place. So when time arises, you don't have to wonder what to do. Just grab your Date Night Box and enjoy an evening together!

Here is how it works: 

Find a box that can become your official Date Night Box!  I got my box from a FedEx store but I am sure you can easily find one around the house!

Using our gorgeous printable box set designed by the lovely Leah Aldous - you can spruce up the flaps of the box. I love Leah's coordination of colors and design. It easily takes a simple box and makes it become something special.

My husband and I do love going to the movies and we have quite a few on our list lately that we want to see! Even though a movie can be a typical date night, I added a few items to my box to make it extra sweet!

• Movie Date Night in a Box - Fill your box with lots of fun extra treats for a movie! If you are renting a flick - add the movie or place your tickets to a specific movie and surprise your spouse! You can even use our fun Double Feature Printables to really go above and beyond!

• Getaway Date Box -  Do you really want to surprise your spouse with something special for date night? Get a hotel for 1 or more nights. You could include in your date night box: travel toothbrushes and toothpaste, travel shampoo, massage oil/lotion, comfy robes, fluffy slippers, rejuvenating masks (especially if your husband is into facial treatments...or at least a warm towel for his face), the favorites of your movie collection, some relaxing herbal tea or hot cocoa, etc. If getting a hotel isn't in your budget - check out all of these ideas for a staycation in your own home! Just add the coordinating items to your box!
• Picnic Date in a Box - A picnic is always so romantic and we have a few {ahem 97} ideas for ways you can stage your own picnic!  Having a meal out in the sun with your husband free of technology. Sounds blissful! Just add a blanket and all the food items you need for a picnic lunch. Don't forget to add the plastic plates and utensils!

This is a FANTASTIC checklist that is flexible for any type of couple and allows for personalization as well.  Whether you're on the run or are able to fill this in together, this is a great resource for the upcoming holiday!  The FIRST STEP is simple...print that baby out!  The SECOND STEP is a pick-your-own-adventure.  You can either fill it in together or cut it in half and give the copies to your spouse once filled out.

The left-hand side is great for listing a DREAMY Valentine's Day.  I checked off what sounded like a perfect evening for me and my husband.  Let's be real, we have all missed out on something important that was said in passing.  This helps prevent miscommunication and easily lists out expectations...like remembering to bring home a copy of You've Got Mail and a Box of Chocolates.

There is even a NOTES section which is great for listing out more personalized details (i.e. I LOVE Stargazer Lilies and here is the number for a great florist).  With the success checklist in hand, my Valentine then knows what type of dinner I would like, if we're exchanging Valentine's Day gifts, and if a movie night would be the perfect opportunity to snuggle or if I'm down for more of an action flick.

The right-hand side is then great for him because he can check off all of the things that he has accomplished and still needs to get done.  This will hopefully relieve some stress from the holiday and instead give you more time to focus on what it's all about...LOVE!

  Easy!

  Leave out your filled-in backwards invite {BIG shout out to Courtney at Paperelli for the adorable printables} for your spouse to find.  Note, they will have to hold it up in a mirror in order to read it properly...haha - it IS backwards date night you know!!  BUT be careful, you'll have to fill in the details writing the letters and numbers BACKWARDS so they, too reflect properly in the mirror.  It's tricky, but totally fun and in theme with the date.  Maybe practice on a separate piece of paper before you attempt it on the actual invite!

Have the "Meet Me" location be the bedroom and leave this fun intimacy note along with your invite!  It will have him running, not walking to meet you in the bedroom!

After the bedroom fun and some cuddling, I'm sure you'll be hungry! Get dressed by putting ALL your clothes on backwards and head to the kitchen for a "regressive" meal for two!  Start with dessert and work up to appetizers!  YUM, dessert FIRST!

Spoil your spouse with a night of surprises they'll never forget!

Have a special occasion coming up for your spouse?  A birthday?  An anniversary?  Or you just plain want to have a unique date night full of excitement with your sweetie?  Well, we have got the perfect date planned for you that's full of surprises and fun!

So, I am a total surprise lover.  I love to be surprised with notes, activities, or even just a big unexpected hug!  I don't think there's anything better!  So that's why I planned this surprise date night for my hubby.  Thanks to the talented Kiki at Kiki and Company we have the world's cutest free printables to make putting this date together easy as pie!

My hubby woke up first thing to see my balloon date night countdown hanging up in the living room before heading to work.  I wanted to get him excited about all the surprises in store for the evening!

Talk about building the anticipation of surprise before the night even began!

While my husband was at work, I put everything together to make sure I would be ready in time!  Make sure you have a paper cutter, pen, pack of balloons {the darker the better so they can't see the surprise inside} and string on hand to prepare your night of surprises!

First, I chose which activities I wanted to be a part of our evening.  We have a list of activities you can choose from as well as blank strips to write in your own ideas!  You will choose however many activities you want, along with their time to fill your evening with surprises.  Each activity will be rolled up and go inside a balloon with a matching clock taped to the outside telling your sweetie the time to pop it open and see what's in store!

After I chose my activities, I rolled each one up and put it inside a balloon.  My advice is to roll them up along a pen or pencil, makes it quick and easy and the pencil also helps pop it inside!

Be sure to keep track of which balloon has which activity in it by securely taping your clocks on the front of each balloon {I'll be the first to admit I got mixed up a few times}.  Don't worry if our times don't match your schedule!  We provided blank clocks for you to fill in as well!

Once you have all your activities planned and hidden inside your balloons, and your times taped to the front, tie them on your string and let the fun begin!

Once each time comes in the evening, your spouse gets to pop the balloon to find the activity inside!  Here's a little sneak peek at our date night: My first activity was going out to dinner at my hubby's all time favorite: BBQ!

He loved it!  We came back for a game night with a few of our all time favorites: Rummikub, Dominion, and Settlers of Catan!

We also popped balloons for playing tennis, dessert, some dessert after dessert, mystery clues, and ended our night with homemade popcorn and snuggling up on the couch with our favorite movie!  You don't have to have a million crazy activities planned, the balloons and surprises make it fun themselves!

I did this date for my husband's birthday and so, as I mentioned, one of his surprise balloons was a mystery clue!  Similar to our activity strips we also have 6 clue strips for you to fill in and lead your spouse on a hunt to a gift you have in store for them!  Put the first clue in a balloon to pop and hide the rest along the way with clues you create.  From the kitchen, to the fridge, to the dog kennel, to the car, my hubby went on the hunt to find where I left his birthday surprises!  It was the perfect way to top off our night of surprises.

The PERFECT date night for all you Nicholas Sparks lovers out there to watch his movie The Longest Ride!

Are y'all ready to get your romance on with this amazing Nicholas Sparks flick?  We have got the perfect date night to get your spouse all geared up to watch Nicholas Sparks' The Longest Ride.  Who knew rodeos and cowboys could be SO much fun??

Since living in Texas, the hubby and I LOVE a good rodeo, so combining that with my guilty pleasure of reading Nicholas Sparks books, I just about died when The Longest Ride hit the bookstore shelves.  I was SO excited to read it, and let me tell you, it definitely did NOT disappoint!  The Longest Ride has to be one of my all time FAVORITE Nicholas Sparks books.  If you haven't read it I would suggest dropping all responsibility {within reason of course (; } and doing so now, you won't regret it!

Anyways, you can imagine my excitement when The Longest Ride was chosen to become a feature film.  As soon as it did, I knew I wanted to create the ultimate date night to go along with it!  This date night is full of rodeos, cowboys, good food and romance!  What else could a girl ask for?!  Thanks to Crystal at A Well Feathered Nest, we have the CUTEST free printables for your night of fun!

To get my hubby excited and start this rodeo date night off right, I of course had to leave him an adorable invitation so he knew he was most definitely W A N T E D (:

The Longest Ride is full of the cutest, gushiest love quotes so we just had to include one of my favorites on our invitation.  It says, "“You made me happy and you made me laugh, and if I could do it all over again, I would not hesitate. Look at our life, at the trips we took, the adventures we had. As your father used to say, we shared the longest ride together, this thing called life, and mine has been filled with joy because of you.” - Nicholas Sparks.

The Longest Ride date night can be for just you and your spouse or for a group of friends, the more the merrier!  The night will begin with a cowboy grub mystery dinner!  I'm sure you've done mystery dinners for Halloween or Valentine's Day before, but never one like this!  First things first, earlier in the day print off those menus and menu keys and make sure you have all the proper ingredients for this yummy dinner.  The menu key is for the cook in the kitchen to refer to.  Place one blank menu on each of your guests plates along with a pen for them to fill in their order.

The way it works is: the meal has 3 courses with 4 items to choose for each course.  There are 12 items total to choose from with mysterious cowboy themed names such as "spurs" or "saddle."  Your spouse and guests have no idea what those names translate to in the kitchen, only YOU do.  They have to do the best they can at the guessing game!  Plates are the only item each guest gets as a freebie to start out with.  Once the menus are filled up, gather them and begin filling plates for the first course.  You can choose to let your guests only keep the 4 items during that specific course of the meal {this may require some messy eating with no utensils!} or you can be extra nice and let them keep the items throughout the entire meal.  Fill up the plates after each course until your 3 course cowboy grub meal is complete.  Bon appetite!

To keep the laughter and chatting going during dinner we have provided you with a fun game of rodeo trivia.  You may be surprised at all the fun rodeo facts you'll learn tonight!  It sure makes watching The Longest Ride a lot more exciting, you'll feel like you have been going to rodeos for years!

Last but not least, what cowboy rodeo themed date night is complete without a country music playlist?!  I can't get enough of some good old country love songs!  They add the perfect touch to The Longest Ride date night.  Play them throughout dinner and trivia or on the car ride to the show!  Your spouse will LOVE how the music gets them in just the right mood to watch this Nicholas Sparks movie!

Game Night With Your Spouse!

Game night for date night just got a little more personal! Based on the hit game Scattergories - all of these category questions have to do with your spouse! The result? A hilarious game geared to get to know your spouse!

Scattergories {available here and here!} is a classic game that asks players to answer various questions, but the trick is - those answers must all begin with a certain letter!  The original game already requires creativity in your answers but in our version get ready to make those clever answers match your spouse!

Not only is this game fun to play, but with diva designer Kensie's fun printables - it is easy to prepare! Just print, cut and play!

How To Play:

Start by selecting a letter! Using the printables provided, cut out each letter of the alphabet. I folded mine up and placed them in a simple bowl.

The letter that is selected will be the first letter used in each of your answers!

Select one of the four category cards to use. Each category card has 12 unique questions that all refer to your spouse!

Set the timer for 3 minutes (or less for more of a challenge!). Then, using the answer sheets, each spouse will secretly write down a word to fit the category question. Remember: all answers must begin with the chosen letter!

For example: What is one word to describe your spouse's breath in the morning?

Letter: S

Options could include: sensational, sour, or sweet - so many choices! For the record, I said my husband's was sexy and he answered that mine was spicy. Spicy?! We had a good laugh over that! I would have preferred  sexy . . .

When the timer runs out, compare your answers.  A player receives a point for each word they write down that starts with the chosen letter. No points are received if you both write down the same word. Double points are received if you have a double letter such as Super Spicy!

Finally, determine a winner for the round and play again by choosing a new letter and/or a new category card!

 This date night idea had my spouse and I laughing so hard!  We loved the challenge and had a blast sharing our answers! We hope you enjoy this game as much as we did!
